Overview
Japan Society for Cell Biology (JSCB) was established in 1950 with the aim of contributing to life science research and education in Japan. JSCB promotes understanding of the structure and function of the cell, which is the basic unit of life. JSCB attracts researchers form a wide range of fields including medicine, science, engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture, and has maintained a membership of over 1,000. In 2014, JSCB became a corporation (general incorporated association). Cell biology research has greatly contributed to the progress of life science, and its results have been applied to many fields including medicine.
JSCB holds an academic meeting once a year, publishes the international journal “Cell Structure and Function (CSF)”, publishes the newsletter “Cell Biology”, and cooperates with the activities of the International Federation for Cell Biology and the Asia-Pacific Federation for Cell Biology. JSCB also focuses on nurturing young researchers who will lead the future of cell biology, such as by awarding young researchers and supporting the activities of “Young Meeting for Cell Biology”.
There are still many mysteries remaining in the microcosm inside the cell, and surprising discoveries are being made every year. If you are interested in cell biology, please join us in exploring the mysteries of life!
