We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist with experience in molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry and cell imaging, with the ability to work to a high standard. Previous laboratory experience, good communication skills, and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team are essential in order to make a strong contribution to the project.
The research project will build on a rich set of preliminary proteomics data constituting a network of interaction of BET proteins, seeking to verify these findings in vivo employing cellular biology and imaging. A wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques will be employed, including protein engineering and cloning, protein purification, immunoprecipitation and immunoblotting, site-specific photo-cross-linking, mammalian cell culture, confocal imaging, siRNA/shRNA depletion of proteins, FACS, ChIP and ChIP-seq.
You will have a PhD in a biological or biophysical science area with an excellent academic track record, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A proven high level of technical competence in standard cell and molecular biology techniques, including cell imaging (confocal microscopy) would be essential.
The ability to work independently and flexibly and manage the day-to-day running of a research project including assisting the work of junior researchers is important.
Knowledge of appropriate Health and Safety procedures would be beneficial.
Only applications received before 12.00 noon on Wednesday 6 February 2013 can be considered.
